Collaboration with the Media
More comprehensive and better information on water issues in Africa and their importance can and does contribute to an improvement of the situation.
Individuals and populations which are well informed usually adapt their behaviour as water users.
The creation of awareness on the most important water issues and dissemination of comprehensive information is therefore an activity to which AWF has committed itself.
The current AWF Communications strategy purposely includes activities of collaboration with the media which are used as both, a recipient of AWF communications as well as, more importantly, a channel through which such communications can be further disseminated. The overall objective here is to contribute to regular and high quality coverage of water issues in Africa as well as the AWF’s activities by and in African media.
A high quality network of journalists from various backgrounds and with interest and knowledge in water issues has therefore been established and is constantly increasing.
The AWF in partnership with other stakeholders, primarily AfDB, has also planned to organize sessions, workshops and training to enhance water’s issues media information and expertise.
