Prepared With the Help of AWF, Songwe River Basin Program Set to Start
Prepared with the support of the African Water Facility and the NEPAD Infrastructure Project Preparation Facility (IPPF), both hosted by the African Development Bank (AfDB), this program is expected to generate economic, social, environmental, and livelihood benefits for the people of the Songwe Basin. It will also enhance food and energy security and boost economic growth on the borders between the Southern African countries.
AWF supports the development of irrigated agriculture to increase food security and economic growth in Malawi
(English Only) The African Water Facility has offered a €1.8 million grant to the Government of Malawi to help prepare a project designed to improve and expand irrigated agriculture and help overcome the adverse effect of prolonged dry spells and frequent flooding.
