Prepared With the Help of AWF, Songwe River Basin Program Set to Start
Prepared with the support of the African Water Facility and the NEPAD Infrastructure Project Preparation Facility (IPPF), both hosted by the African Development Bank (AfDB), this program is expected to generate economic, social, environmental, and livelihood benefits for the people of the Songwe Basin. It will also enhance food and energy security and boost economic growth on the borders between the Southern African countries.
Boosting hydropower and irrigation in Tanzania
Tanzania is expected to benefit from a boost in hydropower generation and irrigation development thanks to a new study financed by the African Water Facility (AWF). This EUR 2-million grant will help the government of Tanzania launch the pre-feasibility study of a multipurpose dam, irrigation and hydropower project in Kikonge (South West).
