Supporting water projects throughout Africa
The African Water Facility (AWF) gives grants and technical assistance to mobilise investment for water projects throughout Africa.
La Facilité africaine de l’eau finance à hauteur de 1,1 million d’euros un projet d’appui à la création d’un organisme de bassins transfrontaliers (Ogoué, Ntem, Nyanga, et Komo) et la préparation de projets d’investissements (PACOBT-PPI). Pour les pays de la CEEAC, il s’agit d’une priorité au niveau national et régional, porteuse de beaucoup d’espoirs pour les populations rurales, et qui s’insère dans les efforts d’adaptation des quatre pays concernés de la Communauté aux changements climatiques.

A typical project cycle takes six months to first disbursement of grant funding. Grants are generally divided in tranches, released as the project meets defined milestones:
- 0 – 3 months: Approval
- 3 – 6 months: Effectiveness
- 6 months: 1st disbursement
- 15 months: 2nd disbursement
Projects can last anything from two to five years depending on the complexity and scope. Grants range from €50,000 to €5,000,000.
