The 14th Governing Council Meeting was held from November 28-29 in Tunis, Tunisia. The meeting brought together over 34 stakeholders and observers, including African Development Bank (AfDB) and AMCOW representatives, representatives from all AWF donors, Water Ministers from two countries and the Principle Secretaries of the Water Ministries of two more countries.

The AWF launched the Sudan a project to support peace-building in the Darfur through improved access to water and sanitation. The AWF offered a €3.3 grant to the Government of Sudan to improve the provision of water and strengthen the equitable management of water resources in the area. The project will contribute to sustainable recovery and lasting peace through ensuring access to water resources to meet all the water related needs of about 750,000 pastoralists, nomadic and settled populations in the Darfur region.
Cairo - The AWF took part in the 2012 African Water Week organised by AMCOW, where it launched the AWF mid-term strategy 2012-2016. Over 200 people attended the launch.
